Under natten på Tel Avivs hustak möter de Oscarsbelönade regissörerna till No Other Land israeliska militärer som blottlägger det systematiska mördandet av palestinska civila i Gaza.

Vi skapade den här filmen utifrån en känsla av plikt att använda vår ställning som israeler för att granska de system som ligger bakom det massdödande av palestinska civila som vårt land bär ansvaret för. Under de tre år vi arbetade med filmen ställde vi oss samma frågor som våra far- och morföräldrars generation – och människor under hela 1900-talet – har ställt: Hur kan en grupp människor tillåta att en annan grupp fullständigt avhumaniseras? Hur ser ett sådant systems inre mekanismer ut?

Många av de avslöjanden som filmen lyfter fram publicerades nästan omedelbart – i takt med att vi fick kännedom om dem under månaderna efter attackerna den 7 oktober – av The Guardian (en av NAZA:s producenter) i samarbete med +972 Magazine och Local Call. Filmen ger oss möjlighet att till skillnad från journalistiken utforska något djupare: Inte bara de ord som faktiskt sägs utan även de som förblir osagda – tystnaden. Det är upp till oss alla att bryta den tystnaden.

Shot at night on the rooftops of Tel Aviv, the film reveals in detail the systems behind Israel’s calculated mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

Directors’ statement
We made this film out of a sense of obligation to use our position as Israelis to examine the systems behind the mass killing of Palestinian civilians for which our country is responsible. While filming over the past three years, we found ourselves asking the very questions that were asked by our grandparents’ generation and throughout the 20th century: how does one group of people allow the total dehumanisation of another? What do the inner workings of such a system look like?

Many of the revelations in the film were published almost immediately as we learned of them, in the months following the October 7th attacks, by The Guardian (one of NAZA’s producers), in collaboration with reporting partners +972 Magazine and Local Call. The film lets us explore something deeper than we could in our investigative journalism alone: not only the words being said but also those that are not said, the silence. It is up to all of us to break that silence.
